There’s something extra special about those first days with a newborn—the quiet, the love, and the overwhelming joy of welcoming someone brand new into the world. This week in the studio, I had the absolute honor of photographing sweet baby Amelia, and her session was one I won’t forget anytime soon.
Alli and RJ welcomed their beautiful baby girl just one week before their scheduled newborn session. Talk about perfect timing! Baby Amelia was still in that dreamy, sleepy stage that makes newborn photography so magical. She settled in so naturally, allowing us to capture those soft, curled-up poses that families cherish forever.
One of my favorite details from this session had to be the hand-crocheted outfits made by Amelia’s grandmother. These pieces were not only incredibly beautiful but also so meaningful. I always encourage families to bring sentimental items, and this was the perfect example of how those personal touches can make a session even more special. The textures and craftsmanship added such a unique and cozy feel to Amelia’s images.
And in a small-world twist that I absolutely love, RJ is actually cousins with another one of my newborn clients, Rachel and Cam. I always joke that everyone knows Rachel—and honestly, it’s starting to feel true! So many of my wonderful clients come through referrals, and it means the world to me to be trusted by the same families again and again. It truly turns my studio into a little community, and I’m so grateful for that.
During Amelia’s session, I also had the chance to try out some new wraps and posing setups that I’ve been excited about. There’s always something fun about incorporating fresh textures and styles while still keeping that timeless look parents love. Amelia was the perfect little model, and she made experimenting with new ideas so easy.
As a Westfield newborn photographer, sessions like this remind me why I love what I do. Capturing these fleeting moments—the tiny fingers, the sleepy smiles, the way parents look at their baby—is such a privilege. These early days pass so quickly, but photographs allow families to hold onto them forever.
If you’re expecting and looking for a newborn photographer in Westfield, I recommend booking your session during your second trimester to ensure availability. My studio is designed to be a calm, welcoming space where you can relax while I safely and gently pose your baby.
Alli, RJ, and baby Amelia—thank you for trusting me to capture this beautiful chapter for your family. Your session was filled with so much love, and I can’t wait to watch your little girl grow.
