Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to capture sweet memories with your little one, and the best part is—you don’t need a professional setup to do it! Whether you’re a photographer or just a mom wanting to take adorable photos of your child at home, this easy DIY Valentine’s setup is for you.
I created a simple yet festive backdrop using three Valentine-colored plastic tablecloths from the dollar store. I tied them into bows and secured them to a wall using painter’s tape—super easy, affordable, and mess-free! This setup makes for the perfect pop of color and creates a fun, love-filled atmosphere for your photos.
To capture these moments with my own toddler, I set up a self-timer to grab a few images of us together. If you’re not comfortable using a self-timer, an easy alternative is to record a video on your phone and then take screenshots of your favorite moments. This trick works especially well when trying to capture candid, in-the-moment shots with an active toddler!
Whether you’re using a professional camera or just your phone, the most important part is to have fun and embrace the moment. Let your child play, laugh, and be themselves—those genuine smiles and interactions will make for the best photos. Happy Valentine’s Day, and happy photographing!
