The Cooke Family’s session was such a joy to capture, and it was the perfect way to celebrate a special milestone—Josephine’s second birthday! Her mom reached out to book a family session at Surina  Square Park in Greenwood, Indiana, and we couldn’t have picked a better evening or location. We met at one of my favorite hidden gems, Surina Square Park, which offers just the right mix of open space, greenery, and charm for playful, heartfelt family photos.

Little Josephine—affectionately called “Jojo”—completely stole the show. From the moment we met, she was full of energy, wonder, and curiosity. She was fascinated by my camera and wasted no time inviting me to join in on her fun. Rather than trying to pose her too much, we turned the entire session into a game, which is always my favorite way to photograph toddlers.

We played ring around the rosie, ran through the grass, and shared plenty of giggles. I always say the best photos happen when kids are just being themselves, and Jojo’s joyful personality absolutely shines through in every image. Her sweet smile, silly expressions, and carefree spirit made this session one I won’t forget.

Sessions like this are why I love being a family photographer in Greenwood, Indiana. There’s something incredibly special about capturing the little moments—the way your toddler looks at you, their laughter as they run around, and the quiet cuddles in between.
