As a Carmel, Indiana family photographer, I’ve had the joy of capturing families in all kinds of light and weather, but there’s something uniquely special about an early morning session—especially when it’s shared with a loving extended family like the Haddads.
We met at Flowing Well Creek Park for a sunrise session, hoping to enjoy some creek playtime with the kids. While the weather surprised us with an unseasonably chilly morning (hello, Indiana!), the crisp air didn’t dampen anyone’s spirits—and the soft, glowing light turned out to be absolutely perfect for photos.
Extended family sessions like this one allow me to document so much more than just smiles for the holiday card. I always make it a priority to capture every meaningful combination—the full group, each individual family unit, couples, grandparents with grandkids, cousins together, and of course, a few sweet solo shots of the little ones. These sessions are a wonderful opportunity to preserve the beautiful relationships that span generations.
The Haddad family was warm, connected, and so easy to work with—even with a brisk breeze and bundled-up kiddos! We may not have splashed in the creek like we’d originally planned, but the moments we captured feel just as joyful and timeless.
Flowing Well Creek Park continues to be one of my favorite hidden gems in Carmel for family photography. With its mix of wooded paths, open spaces, and the creek itself, it offers a versatile and natural backdrop that works in every season—even chilly ones!
