You might recognize the Kurtz family from baby Colin’s newborn session earlier this year! I first connected with Alicia a few years ago when their middle son, Theo, was literally just born. Funny enough, I actually met their house before I met them — I photographed it for interior designer Kara Grider and that’s how our paths crossed. Since then, the Kurtz family has booked yearly sessions, and it’s been such an honor watching their family grow through my lens.
Their boys have really grown to love me, and it absolutely shows in these photos. We always have such a fun energy together — plenty of silliness, laughter, and the kind of chaos that makes family sessions so memorable. I love galleries that are a mix of sweet and silly moments. Sure, smiling-at-the-camera photos are beautiful (and we always get those!), but there’s something extra special about capturing kids just being kids — playing, running, and showing their true personalities.
We did this session at West Park in Carmel, Indiana, one of my favorite local spots for family photos. It has the perfect mix of open fields, trails, and trees — and during this time of year, the colors are always gorgeous.
If you’re thinking about booking family photos in Carmel, West Park is a beautiful option for a relaxed, playful session like this one. I’d love to help you capture your own mix of sweet smiles and fun, candid moments.
