A Perfect Proposal: Ben & Riley’s Heartfelt Moment on the Indianapolis Canal

There are few moments more magical than a proposal, and when it’s filled with love, excitement, and a personal touch, it’s something truly unforgettable. Ben’s proposal to Riley was exactly that—a moment they’ll remember forever, and I feel so lucky to have been part of it.

Ben and Riley’s story is one for the books, and their proposal was a beautiful reflection of their love. Ben planned the perfect surprise for Riley, taking her to a place that held so many special memories for them: the Indianapolis canal, just outside their very first apartment. The whole plan was disguised as a casual outing. Ben told Riley that they had a wine voucher to check out a new wine bar in the area, so they dressed up a little and headed out for a lovely evening. Little did Riley know, she was about to have her entire world turned upside down in the best way possible.

As they strolled along the canal, reminiscing about their time living in their first apartment together, Ben led Riley to a spot right outside their old home. And there, with the beautiful canal as the backdrop, Ben got down on one knee and asked Riley to marry him. Of course, Riley said yes—she was absolutely glowing with excitement, and the joy in her face was impossible to miss. It was the perfect moment: intimate, personal, and filled with so much love.

Ben and I go way back—he and I went to high school together, so when he reached out to me to photograph this special moment, I was beyond thrilled. I couldn’t be happier for him and Riley, and it felt so good to know I would be the one to capture their happiness.

After Riley said yes, I popped out of hiding (because yes, I was secretly waiting to catch the magic on camera!) and took a few photos of the newly engaged couple in that beautiful, intimate moment. We then celebrated with a little champagne—cheers to their engagement and the start of this incredible new chapter in their lives! From there, the two of them went off to a romantic dinner to continue the celebration and make even more memories.

It was such an honor to be part of Ben and Riley’s proposal, and I’m so excited to see where this journey takes them. The love they share is truly special, and I couldn’t be happier for them both. Wishing you both a lifetime of joy, adventure, and endless love!
