Some sessions just hit a little differently—and the Weimer family’s session was one of those full-circle moments I’ll never forget.
As an Indianapolis family photographer, I’ve had the honor of photographing so many milestones over the years, but this one felt especially meaningful. The Weimers reached out to plan a full family session with their adult children and grandkids, and it immediately brought me back to where my photography journey began.
I photographed baby John’s newborn session back in January—he was the very first newborn I ever photographed when I was just starting out. Getting to see him again, this time much bigger, surrounded by family, was incredibly special and emotional in the best way.
We met early in the morning for a 9:00 a.m. session at Coxhall Gardens, and while it was a bit unseasonably cold, this family absolutely powered through it with smiles and laughter. I’m so grateful they trusted me enough to brave the chill—it paid off in the best way.
The early hour meant we had the park almost entirely to ourselves, and the soft morning light was beautiful. Quiet paths, golden light, and genuine moments made this session feel calm, intimate, and timeless.
Extended family sessions—especially with adult children and grandchildren—are such a gift. They capture not just faces, but legacy, connection, and seasons of life that pass far too quickly. As an Indianapolis family photographer, these are some of my favorite sessions to photograph because they tell a deeper story.
Watching this family interact, laugh, and love on little John again—knowing I photographed him during his very first days—was incredibly full-circle for me.
I’m so thankful to the Weimer family for trusting me once again and for starting my photography journey on such a meaningful note all those years ago. Sessions like this are exactly why I do what I do, and I truly hope to work with these wonderful humans again in the future.
If you’re looking for an Indianapolis family photographer to document your family—whether it’s your first session or a return years later—I’d love to connect.
