Weimer Family in-home Newborn Session | Westfield, IN

As a family and wedding photographer based in Indianapolis, I’ve always loved capturing authentic moments that tell a story. Recently, I felt inspired by some beautiful newborn photography and decided to put out a model call on Instagram, hoping to find a family willing to welcome me into their home for a session. That’s when I met the Weiser family, and what a small-world connection it turned out to be!

Jake and his wife, Katie, welcomed me into their charming Westfield home with their precious new baby, John, and their adorable golden retriever, Charlie. It wasn’t until I arrived that I realized I had an unexpected connection to this family—Jake’s sister was a bridesmaid in a wedding I photographed last year! I love moments like these that remind me how intertwined our lives can be.

Photographing a newborn for the first time in years was both exciting and a learning experience. I truly appreciated the Weisers’ patience and kindness as I found my rhythm. Newborn photography requires a special kind of approach—gentle, slow, and full of love. From swaddled cuddles to tiny details like baby John’s fingers and toes, every shot felt like a cherished memory in the making.

During our session, we chatted about all things local to Indy, parenting, and life with a newborn. It was such a relaxed and enjoyable experience that it reaffirmed something I had been contemplating—adding newborn photography to my list of services! There’s something so special about capturing those early days of a baby’s life in the comfort of their home, surrounded by love and warmth.
