Things to Consider While Traveling the World Under 25 | Young Traveler’s Guide
March 6, 2019
In the last year, I have visited over 19 states alone or with 3 or fewer friends (all under the age of 25!) With a dozen more trips near and far, I figured I would share some of my personal travel tips for getting around under the age of 25. While traveling is a blast, sometimes it can be tricky when you have to work around age restrictions.
You May Not Be Able to Rent a Car
No fret, there are many ways to get around. However, renting a car may be tricky or impossible depending on a few things;
-Age
-Credit Card or lack of Credit Card
-Car Insurance type and/or Policy
You may want to do extensive research BEFORE traveling to avoid any hiccups. I personally try to pair up with friends or uber under these circumstances to avoid outrageous fees.
You Also May Not Be Able to Get a Hotel Room
Some hotels require you be 21 or 25 to book a stay at their location. Again, don’t panic! I would say 90% of the time I end up staying at Airbnb’s, but should you need to stay at a Hotel, just remember to check their age policy before arrival. In many instances, I have been turned away AT the hotel desk because of the age policy. Don’t pull a Kaylee, do your research.
Cover Your Basis
Remember to do your research about the locations you plan on visiting, check their customs and drinking age. Tell your friends and family where your going and be aware of your surroundings! Most importantly, have fun!
